giving back / ‘dine with your dog’ brunch for phoenix children’s hospital

Brunch, dogs and giving back to kiddos who need extra TLC? Count wagkind IN!

We were super excited for wagkind to be a part of this year’s ‘Dine With Your Dog’ brunch event to support the therapy dogs who love on young patients at Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

The February 2020 brunch event at Monterra raised $168,000 to benefit PetSmart Charities Paws Can Heal Animal-Assisted Therapy program at Phoenix Children’s.

The furry guests enjoyed gourmet canine cuisine prepared by Phoenix Children’s Chef Spiro Andreopoulos and their humans indulged in a sweet and savory brunch spread plus mimosas and bloody mary’s. Everyone at the event had the opportunity to explore pet play areas, stroll in front of the “pup-arazzi,” chat up fellow dog lovers, bid at the silent auction and enjoy gifts like wagkind’s CBD oil sampler kit.

“Dogs have a profound impact on people,” said Steve Schnall, Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer at Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Phoenix Children’s Hospital’s dog therapy program is funded completely by philanthropic support. Visits from these special therapy dogs help young patients forget about their pain, laugh, smile and feel a comforting sense of normalcy while in the hospital. And that, my friends, is absolutely something wagkind is on board with.

For years, our co-founder Teri worked with Phoenix Children’s Hospital and had an inside look at the incredible organization, their physicians and the daily miracles that happen there. Now as a mother of two young girls, Teri has a whole new appreciation for Phoenix Children’s and is grateful to have that resource so close to home. So when wagkind was asked to participate in this event, it felt like three worlds perfectly colliding.

“Our focus is helping dogs live happy and healthy lives. And when dogs feel their best, they can spread joy to those who need it most, in this case, kids. This cause felt like a natural fit for wagkind.”
